Slideshow of Photos
Lakythra, located in the south west of the island (4 mls SE of Argostoli. 4 mls NW of Pessada. 1½ mls E of the airport) is a tiny inland village in the hilly wine-producing region, offering impressive views across the countryside. It is one of a string of peaceful little villages near the castle of St George, Lakythra measures around ½ ml from E to W and consists of little more than a church plus a small number of shops and tavernas. Its main claim to fame is as an inspiration to the poet Lord Byron, who was a regular visitor to the village in the early 1820s.

This area caters for upmarket couples and singles wanting a quiet, away-from-it-all break. Car hire is recommended.

The area only offers apartments and self-catering accommodation.
