The Statue of Liberty
was a gift of friendship from France to the United States and is a universal symbol of freedom and democracy. The Statue of Liberty was dedicated on October 28, 1886, designated as a National Monument in 1924. It was later restored for the centennial on July 4, 1986.
Ticket Reservation Process at the Statue of Liberty
Planning your trip to the statue is essential to making the most of your visit to the Statue of Liberty. Keep in mind that thousands of people visit daily, reservations are therefore necessary and limited. Be prepared as there are often long lines to purchase tickets and board ferries.
- Pedestal tickets are required to enter any level of the Statue of Liberty National Monument and are limited to 3000 per day.
- Ticket Reservation System: Call 1-877-LADY-TIX or go online to www.statuecruises.com to get all the details on reserving tickets to the pedestal, museum, crown and Liberty Island from Statue Cruises. Choose which visit fits your schedule and interests.
- Reserving Tickets to Visit the Crown: Access to the crown is limited to 240 people each day and advance reservations are the only way to obtain crown tickets. Here you'll find answers to frequently asked questions that will help you plan your visit.
- Security Screening: Visitors to the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island must pass through security screening (similar to airport security procedures) before boarding the ferry system and again before entering the monument. Visitors with Pedestal or Crown reservations must complete their second security screening before 4:30 PM. We encourage visitors to board a ferry before 2:00 PM. On weekends, holiday seasons and from April through October, wait periods may exceed 90 minutes at the screening areas.
