Kefalos Village Beach Apartments - Paphos

We also visited here!!!

This is a well kept, friendly resort, with plenty of things to do on the actual site. These include both an indoor and an outdoor swimming pool, two tennis courts, a health club and a pool room.

The rooms are large and spacious and include a television and a hairdresser. The cupboards come fully equipped with all utensils needed. The bedrooms have either a double bed or two singles, with a double sofa bed in the lounge area. All rooms have either a balcony or a terrace, with most having a pool or sea view.

The resort has two bars, by the pool and in the main lobby, with a big television where you can watch sporting events. Snacks are served in the pool bar, with main meals being served in the big restaurant. Some of the food is nice, but for a wider variety there are many restaurants and bars which serve food along the Tomb of he Kings road, which is a five minute walk from the resort.

The resort is just steps away from the sea. There is a volley ball area right in front of the resort on the beach. There is a sandy area before the sea, but there is rocks between the beach and the sea, and it isn't really a good idea to go swimming because of all the rocks.

There a shoreline paths walking from the resort to other parts of Paphos, such as the harbour. Also there are regular buses to places such as Coral Bay, where there is a nice beach.

All in all this is a very nice resort, one that I would emphatically recommend.

Post    OUR FAMILY HOLIDAY - Paphos

At the Kefalos Beack Appartments the reception staff were courteous and seemed determined that every single person would go home having had a great holiday. The apartments are set in very pretty gardens and well tended by a crew of gardeners. Maid service was excellent. Everything was neat and clean except the toilets by the pool, but we just learnt not to use them!

Plenty of sun loungers beside the pool and on a grassy area between the pool and the sea. The rocky beach meant footwear was needed to go into the sea. There was also quite a current pulling you when swimming so we tended not to let the kids go into the sea themselves. (Don't be put off just prepared).

There are plenty of restaurants 5 to 10 mins away. A frequent and cheap bus service runs from Coral Bay to the Harbour so we travelled around locally in the evenings. We ate out every night, a different place every time and enjoyed every single meal. The attention you recieve from bar staff, waiters etc is out of this world. We did find it could be quite expensive some nights to eat though, depending where you ate.

Spent an enjoyable day in the Trodos mountains and another at the Water Park.

We all had fun.

Post    Thomson - Aug 2006 - (Louis) Imperial Beach Hotel - Paphos

We were very disappointed with the beach. Sad How on earth it was given a Blue Flag Award beats me. I can only describe it as a large rock pool which was shared by a water sports company! The sand was dirty with cigarette butts and very hot! Do not be fooled by the picture of the beach in the Thomson brochure.

The only entertainment we had was bingo, quiz night and karoake. Other than Chico (who tried very hard to please people) there was no animation team! I didn't think the staff in the hotel were very helpful and our Thomson Rep was hard to locate. Shocked

The sports facilities in the hotel were not of a good standard and the equipment looks like it belongs in a junk pile. We decided to hire a jeep for 4 days in the middle of the 2 weeks which turned out to be the best move we had made. Was a bit disappointed with Coral Bay beach. Sun bed city, but we did visit again on a weekday and it was much quieter. Other beaches to vist are Polis and Lara Bay where you see the turtles nesting and (if you are really lucky) several nudists! Beware the rocky road down to Lara Bay. If you take the road back the way you came it is much easier. Take the other route out of the bay and it will take you 4 hours of rocky road before you reach the nearest village called Neo Chorio when you will meet a very unpleasant Fisherman who has wandering hands! Be sure to visit the Adonnis Baths and Waterfalls which the hotels do not advertise purely because of the rocky road up and down the mountain which is a bit scary but well worth the drive! Great fun! Aphrodite's Rock and is must visit especially at sunset.

Island Cove mini golf in Kato Paphos is great fun in the evening, open until 11pm. The English couple who run it are very nice but do not point out the frogs and do not take their pencils! I'll let you find out more about that one! Paphos Harbour is interesting but not essential. Laughing

All in all the hotel was nothing special. They desperately need to sort out their air conditioning system especially in the restaurant. Very uncomfortable indeed. I will not consider returning to this hotel and would certainly not rate it as a 4-star. 3-star at a push. I have lots more to comment on but cannot be bothered to waste my time.

Post    WHAT A TIME WE HAD!!!11

Cyprus as a wedding destination has it all. Friendly people, gorgeous weather, culture, romance and legends.
The town hall registry office with Meester Mayor officiating at the wedding of Meester Mark and Meese Ursula, is first class, even though the air conditioning broke down, and the wedding party were hot and bothered in the intense September heat. Cyprus is like that! Smile

Reception under the stars at the Amathus Beach, Paphos, was unforgettably romantic. We hired a jeep and visited Aphorodites Bath. It's said to make you beautiful - nothing happened, but watch this space! Smile

We also saw Solomon's tomb with its handkerchief tree and special healing powers, the atmospheric monastries at Kykko and Omodhos, where we met an elderly lady, who had received a vision from a saint. We didn't laugh - anything could happen here. Smile

Then onto the awe-inspiring views in the Troodos Mountains, clinging precariously to a hillside track when we got lost, my car rally loving son in his element. Sport plays a large role on the Island, international rallies are held and there is winter skiing.
Cool
As the bridegroom's mum, I had wanted a traditional English wedding, but this was different, and I wouldn't have missed it for anything. In fact I could quite easily have done a Shirley Valentine, and joined the Pelican who lives in Paphos harbour. He knows a good thing when he sees one.

As a wedding destination it doesn't come cheap, but then the best never does, and Cyprus and its people are the BEST. Razz Razz
