Overview:

The Valleys of South Wales are known the world over for their culture, heritage and warmth of welcome. They are a special part of Wales, with many qualities not found elsewhere - their unexpected beauty, their country parks and forests, their attractions, scenic footpaths and cycle trails and the largest castle in Wales. It is an area of great diversity, the valleys of South Wales offer a different perspective on Wales. Whether its history, nature or the traditional Welsh song you're looking for, the valleys of South Wales will provide this and much more.

Locality:

The Valleys of South Wales refer to a large proportion of the southern portion of one of the Europe's most picturesque countries, Wales.

Entertainment/Facilities/Attractions/Things to do:

Newly regenerated countryside offers fantastic opportunities for enjoying the great outdoors. The Taff Trail stretches for 68 miles from Cardiff Bay in the South to Brecon in the north and offers a trail for walkers, mountain bikes and horses.

The Celtic Trail also offers a chance to wander through lush valleys, mountains and forests, all of which are plentiful throughout the valleys of South Wales.

History plays a huge part too in this part of Wales. Once the producer of a third of all of Britain's wealth during the industrial revolution, the valleys are turning green once more but there are plenty of places you can go to see exactly why this area was so important.

Try the Big Pit Museum, where you get a chance to experience life as a miner by going 300 feet underground. Or the World Heritage site at Blaenafon, showcasing two centuries of living history.

With an abundance of castles, manor houses and museums, and the area's industrial heritage, the valleys of South Wales will give you a very warm Welsh welcome.
