Overview:

This is a tiny bustling village behind the main Colombo - Negombo road with a central canal dividing the beach area from local businesses and fishermen's homes.

Hotels are located on a thin strip of flat land between canal and ocean. There is little for visitors to see or do in the immediate vicinity.

This resort is suitable for dedicated sun worshippers who are happy with just the hotel pool and garden. There are a couple of dated and remote beachfront operations where all-inclusive is the norm.

Locality:

Hendala is on the west coast, (9 mls N of Colombo, 15 mls S of Bandaranaike international airport). It is a nondescript coastal site comprising flat countryside and sandy shore.

Entertainment/Facilities/Attractions/Things to do:

The beach here is a rather grubby gold/black sandy stretch that can become badly eroded during off-peak summer months. It is not suitable for swimming or water sports. Subject to debris on shoreline.

For shopping there is nothing locally but a visit to Colombo is an optionwhere there is a greater variety..

Both the nightlife and the restaurants are purely hotel based.
