The compact layout of the city centre is ideal shopping territory.   A majority of areas are pedestrianised making it even easier to cope with bulging shopping bags!   Market life is particularly popular in Derby.   There are daily permanent markets at the Market Hall situated in a wonderful Victorian building, the Eagle Centre Market - one of the largest indoor markets in the UK, and at Allenton Market.   Regular farmers' markets and continental markets are held in the outdoor Market Place filling the air with wonderful aromas of cheese, sausages, garlic and roasting nuts!
