Overview:
Britain's favourite seaside resort, Blackpool is packed wall to wall with attractions, entertainment, top line shows and offers just about everything a holidaymaker can wish for.
Take it all in as you stroll along the promenade, past Blackpool Pleasure Beach, the Sandcastle Waterworld and at the heart of the Golden Mile, the world famous Blackpool Tower, Sealife Centre and Louis Tussaud's Waxworks.
Take a leisurely walk along the resort's three piers or wander away from the excitement of the seafront where the award winning Stanley Park is a haven of tranquillity with its formal gardens, fountains and boating lake. Have a wild day out at Blackpool Zoo or spend an afternoon looking at the delights of the Model Village.
When the autumn nights draw in, the seafront is transformed into an electrical extravaganza as the town explodes in a six mile long riot of colour for one of the world's most spectacular light shows - Blackpool Illuminations - taking the holiday season right through to November each year.
Blackpool is easily accessible by road, rail and now air thanks to RyanAir's flights to Blackpool from London Stansted and Dublin.
Locality:
Blackpool is situated in Lancashire on the North West coast of England. Entertainment/Facilities/Attractions/Things to do:
Blackpool is certainly not short of attractions, entertainment or things to do, however, commercialisation and the poor cleanliness of its beaches have unfortunately pulled this former 'Britains number 1' tourist spot well down the list of British holiday destinations. Despite this factor, Blackpool hasn't lost any of its life, quite the opposite, Blackpool has just about more character and life than any other seaside town. There is something for everyone from the very young to the significant senior and is a big hit with families due to its diversity of attractions.
